And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ. 2I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able. 3For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?

1 Corinthians 3:1-3

The Corinthians had not grown in spiritual understanding as yet, being saved they needed instruction in just about everything which the books of Corinthians just about cover.

The NT, it is said, is written in line with spiritual growth from babes to the ministry each book of Paul’s from Corinthians to Titus take you through the growth of a Christian. With each book comes a little more spirituality.

Hebrews 5:14 But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

Christians are supposed to grow in grace and knowledge of God through his word and the practice of living it. The trouble with the Corinthians and most today is they have not grown.

Hebrews 5:12 For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.

I had a man once proudly show me his thirty-year Bible study pin. He had not missed a Bible study at his Church in thirty years. My question was, why had he not had his own ministry and been teaching a Bible study after five years? If even a home study with neighbor and friends.

Christians, especially in America, have never grown up. They still want to be friends with and have the benefits of the world. They are Corinthians.
