But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you. For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.

1 Thessalonians 5:1-4 KJV

Considering the context, “but”. Concerning what I just said I am adding a “but” to it. So we have to look back to the end of chapter 4 to get the first part. Paul just finished prophesying the rapture. Therefore, the “but” refers back to that and he is stating that it is the times and seasons for the rapture that he need not write to them about.

The world is going to be overtaken by the event as a thief in the night, but it should not overtake us as a thief; we can know the time and season.

Time is ripe for the Rapture; it can come anytime between now and the enforcement of the mark of the beast.
