I give thee charge in the sight of God, who quickeneth all things, and before Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed a good confession; 14That thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukeable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ: 15Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords; 16Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.

1 Timothy 6:13-16

Verse 13-16 constituted a complete sentence. The context of the full sentence must be maintained when interpreting a verse within a sentence. Remember in studying the Scriptures that a sentence is the smallest unit of grammar that has a definitive meaning. Anything less than a whole sentence can be made to mean anything. A sentence is a trinity, it requires a subject, predicate (verb), and a complete thought.

The Bible should be studied sentence by sentence, however, the complete thought might be made up of two or more sub-thoughts. The verse numbers divide the sentences by individual thoughts which make up the complete thought.

1 Timothy 6:13-16

13 I give thee charge in the sight of God, who quickeneth all things, and before Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed a good confession;

14 That thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukeable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ:

1 Timothy 6:11-12 But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness. 12Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.

15 Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;

16 Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.

It is another passage of Scripture telling us that Jesus Christ is God and that we are to live godly and righteously in Him.
