What is the context of being unequally yoked ?

Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?

2 Corinthians 6:14

Unbelievers are simply those that are unsaved not having put their faith in the gospel of Christ Jesus.

It is an admonition on certain aspects of how to live our lives, We are not to join in any contractual agreements with a lost person, it never ends well. This would include business partnerships, marriage, etc. This has to do with joining together, partnerships, being yoked together, not your business contracting out your services or products to others, etc.

I can assure you Satan will use your contractual obligation to make you compromise the faith or your faith will to destroy your agreement. Either way, it will hurt your testimony as a Christian.

If you are already in a contractual agreement at the time you trust in Christ, the proper thing to do is to start living the faith. If your partner(s) can live with that, then honor your obligations. If they cannot, then let them choose to dissolve the contract and move on without prejudice to you.

If in a marriage and your spouse can live with your faith, then honor the marriage. You are not free to break the bonds of marriage and leave your spouse. If your spouse cannot live with it and leaves you, you are free to marry again, only in the Lord, a believer.

1 Corinthians 7:12-15 But to the rest speak I, not the Lord: If any brother hath a wife that believeth not, and she be pleased to dwell with him, let him not put her away. 13And the woman which hath an husband that believeth not, and if he be pleased to dwell with her, let her not leave him. 14For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband: else were your children unclean; but now are they holy. 15But if the unbelieving depart, let him depart. A brother or a sister is not under bondage in such cases: but God hath called us to peace.

The bondage spoken of is the law.

1 Corinthians 7:39 The wife is bound by the law as long as her husband liveth; but if her husband be dead, she is at liberty to be married to whom she will; only in the Lord.

If it is a local assembly or Church, unbelievers should not be part of it.
