And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.

Exodus 3:14

It is the designation that God gave of himself to Moses. It answers the question of who and where did God come from.

I AM – no beginning, no end, he just is what he is. I AM, have always been, always will be. I AM, I IS, I ARE, I BE, there is none else except Me.

Some would say that you cannot know any more about God but that would not be biblical.

Romans 1:20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

I firmly believe at this late date, that is being in the last days, some scientist out there somewhere have figured it out and it is just not getting out.

Romans 1:21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

But it is be coming more difficult to deny him.
