I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. 16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.

Revelation 3:15-16

There are three categories of Christians: hot, lukewarm, and cold. They are all saved and all will go in the Rapture.

  • The hot are on fire for Christ, they realize their duty and responsibilities to Christ and the gospel to witness to the lost. They read and study their Bible diligently. They understand and accept that they will suffer persecution.
  • The lukewarm are those that play Church, hypocritical, rely on many version of God’s word so they cannot be held responsible. They put money in the plate and dump all on the “Pastor” to do what believe is the work and service of God. The main problem is they hinder the hot from their service. They side with the world because they do not want to suffer for Christ.
    • 2 Timothy 4:10 KJV For Demas hath forsaken me, having loved this present world, and is departed unto Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia, Titus unto Dalmatia.
  • The cold are those that are saved but never grew are fearful, weak in faith, that remain quiet and out of the spotlight. They may love the world or they may read the Bible and pray.

What many of the lukewarm and cold do not realize is that they will have to stand before the Judgment Seat of Christ and give an account of their saved lives.

2 Corinthians 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

1 Corinthians 3:11-15 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; 13 Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is. 14 If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. 15 If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.

We are not given many details of what those rewards are that some will receive and others lose, but it is enough for me to not want to be on the losing end. Do you want the shame of having denied Christ by not serving him all eternity?

If what I have said is not so and we do not have the choice, the New Testament would not be 50% warnings against doing wrong and admonitions for Christians to do right.

For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?
