And the LORD said unto Moses, Hew thee two tables of stone like unto the first: and I will write upon these tables the words that were in the first tables, which thou brakest.

Exodus 34:1

I have been ask whether Eodus 34:10-27 is the real or another set of the Ten Commandments. Let’s examine this in light of what it actually says.

This is the second trip up the mountain with a new pair of tables of stone. As the Lord states, He will write upon this second set what he wrote on the first, Exodus 20.

It becomes obvious that the Lord is telling Moses much more in the 40 days and nights than just the Ten Commandments. These other words the Lord tells Moses to write himself.

Exodus 34:27 And the LORD said unto Moses, Write thou these words: for after the tenor of these words I have made a covenant with thee and with Israel.

These other words are not the Ten Commandments but additional guidance by the tenor of which or general meaning of those words the covenant of God is based on.

There is only one set of the Ten Commandments, as listed in Exodus 20 and Deuteronomy 5.

It is not hard to find “scholarly” opinions that there are as many as three sets of the commandments. This can be disregarded, as most of what the “scholars” say. Read and diligently study the Scriptures for yourself.
