How does God go from the jealous God of war as in Genesis and Exodus to Jesus?

For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.

Malachi 3:6

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

James 1:17

There is no change in God from the OT to the NT.

The LORD is our Creator, as such he can do whatever He desires to do with us. He has stated that he desires to save us from ourselves, our sins, our evil. However, this is not free, someone has to pay God’s law for those sins to maintain God’s holiness and righteousness. To save us He gave His Son, Christ Jesus, to pay the retribution the law required.

The Bible is given to us to learn of our Maker. He is a God who is delighted by exercising lovingkindness, justice, and righteousness.

Jeremiah 9:24 But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the LORD which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the LORD.

Those that he destroyed in the OT were those that rejected Him and all sense of decency and morality is so much that they offer their children to be bunt to death in sacrifice.

Jeremiah 19:5 They have built also the high places of Baal, to burn their sons with fire for burnt offerings unto Baal, which I commanded not, nor spake it, neither came it into my mind:

How do you know whether the LORD had not sent them warnings of his wrath to come upon them which they rejected. He sent Enoch, Noah, Jonah, to warn the people.

Jude 1:14 And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints,

2 Peter 2:5 KJV And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;

Matthew 12:41 KJV The men of Nineveh shall rise in judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: because they repented at the preaching of Jonas; and, behold, a greater than Jonas is here.

The LORD does not change which leaves us with the only biblical indication we have and that is that he warns before the impending doom. Israel is the witness and warning to the world.

Did Jericho repent in sackcloth and ashes as Ninevah?

Joshua 2:9-11 And she said unto the men, I know that the LORD hath given you the land, and that your terror is fallen upon us, and that all the inhabitants of the land faint because of you. 10For we have heard how the LORD dried up the water of the Red sea for you, when ye came out of Egypt; and what ye did unto the two kings of the Amorites, that were on the other side Jordan, Sihon and Og, whom ye utterly destroyed. 11And as soon as we had heard these things, our hearts did melt, neither did there remain any more courage in any man, because of you: for the LORD your God, he is God in heaven above, and in earth beneath.

“The LORD your God, he is God in heaven above, and in earth beneath”, They knew in mind that the God of the Israelites was God Almighty but did not repent. Isreal circled the city for seven days, which would have given them time to do so.

What makes you think God has changed?
