Golden Rule or Royal Law

As with most things, the world likes to cut God out. So it is with the Golden Rule. The first rule, the Golden Rule, is not to love your neighbor as yourself. That is the second rule. The first, the Golden Rule is to love God.

Matthew 22:37-38 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38This is the first and great commandment.

The second or Royal law is to do unto others as you would have done unto you. It is given in several ways to ensure it covers all the bases.

Matthew 22:39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

James 2:8 If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well:

Leviticus 19:18 Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I am the LORD.

Leviticus 19:34 But the stranger that dwelleth with you shall be unto you as one born among you, and thou shalt love him as thyself; for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God.

Matthew 7:12 Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.

Luke 6:31 KJV And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise.

The reverse is given just to make sure we all understand.

Proverbs 24:29 Say not, I will do so to him as he hath done to me: I will render to the man according to his work.

Men have wanted to cut God out from the start. Just as in the garden, Eve wanted to cut God out and decide for herself what was good or evil.
